EaRN | Work Search Roundtable at LinkedIn

The new means of communicating and networking will be available as a LinkedIn group--EaRN | Work Search Roundtable--with "subgroups" to focus networking geographically first in West Michigan, then in Michigan and the Midwest, and expanding out to the rest of the US and Canada.

If you do not have a LinkedIn account AND you wish to stay connected because of your interest in EaRN Employment and Resource Network either as a person seeking work or as an EaRN Affiliate Organization (EAO) volunteer, please set up a LinkedIn account for yourself soon.  (Former job seekers now employed again--hurray!--are encouraged to consider becoming an EaRN volunteer with one of the EAOs, giving back to others who are still in transition AND helping insure your own career security.)

Once you have a LinkeIn account (, do connect (or reconnect) with an EaRN Affiliate Organization (EAO) so that we can verify your interest and invite you to join the EaRN | Work Search Roundtable group at LinkedIn.

Current EAOs and contact points are as follows:

GR-Wyoming best prospects for summer employment in US

Just when we thought things in West Michigan were just gloomy, Forbes magazine reports some good news!  Nice to hear, but it still takes some effort to find the opportunities.  The "low hanging fruit" jobs are not going to fall into anyone's lap.  One needs to be 'proactive' to find the opportunities before 100s of folks apply for a particular position.

"The magazine says 18,000 employers in 100 metropolitan areas around the U.S. were surveyed by Manpower, and Grand Rapids-Wyoming has the largest percentage of employers (24%) who expect to increase their number of employees in the next three months."  (Source: Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, June 14, 2011 newsletter)  Forbes stated "Employers in all 50 states expect the bleak employment picture to perk up during the three-month period ending in September."
